Michael Barnes, Founder and CEO of Barnes International,
has vast international employment experience having worked in 9
different countries spanning 18 years. Michael worked in the Hospitality
industry as Director of Sales & marketing for large and small
international hotel groups. Having worked in Portugal, Spain, Australia,
Bali, USA (on a cruiseship), Mexico, Tanzania, Bahrain and South
Africa, I have seen and experienced a vast number of candidates
come and go from all countries, cultures, religions and economic
backgrounds. I have seen promising candidates arrive with no idea
of what it means to work in other cultures, under very different
governments and within multi-cultural environments. Many times I
found that this was the first time they have ventured beyond their
own countries.
I have also, though sadly, seen candidates leave because they simply
arrived unprepared for the tasks ahead. I admit, it is very difficult
to prepare an eighteen year old, for what is to come but some degree
of preparedness is certainly needed, if not just a handbook.
Through my travels abroad I have had the pleasure to meet lots
of wonderful people with most constantly asking me to seek candidates
back home in South Africa. From cruise ships to hotels to oil &
petrochemical companies.
Barnes Recruitment was borne out of these requests. The ideals
that I gathered during my travels are the very same ideals and desires
I have for every candidate we place. A through understanding of
the brief, professional selection, sufficient and honest preparation
are the values that Barnes Recruitment offers to all it propective
candidates.
